This has to be one of my favourite season 12 interviews so far!

Aislinn Paul recently spoke to The Magazine to promote Degrassi’s 12th season. She answered a lot of interesting questions on everything from Degrassi’s busy shooting schedule to her favourite scene to film. She also discussed Clare getting back together with Eli and working with Munro Chambers prior to Degrassi.

On Degrassi’s 40-episode-season limited time schedule, Aislinn said:

It is very different. Back in season 8, I mean we still only shot the 20 or so episodes, and going from being used to working on set with scripts like that and then moving on to shooting twice as many episodes…It was really different to move on and do that much work in so little time and so it’s been an adjustment to work with the scripts for that little time but it’s also a nice challenge. I’ve had a lot of fun.

The Huffington Post Canada recently got the chance to interview several cast members from Degrassi including Munro Chambers, Alicia Josipovic, Alex Steele, Annie Clark, and Christine Prosperi. They talked about what we can look forward to in season 12, and some of the questions even came directly from the fans!

Are you going to be in Toronto on Monday, July 16th?

As always, Much Music will be kicking off Degrassi’s summer season with a huge premiere party at 299 Queen St West in Toronto. This morning they released information about the event on their blog.

This year it all starts at 6:00 p.m. with an episode of New Music Live with the cast of Degrassi. The episode will be filmed live from the Much Music parking lot. Degrassi’s season premiere starts at 10:00 p.m., so in between NML and the new episode, the cast will be around to sign autographs, pose for pictures, and meet with the fans. Much Music is also teasing a “super special surprise” for anyone in attendance!

To RSVP visit MuchMusic.com and make sure you are a member of MuchCloser. In fact, the highest ranking MuchCloser members may even get preferred seating at the event! If you are American and planning on making the trip to Toronto for the premiere, Stephen tweeted this earlier today: “Americans! If you want to RSVP to the Degrassi premiere event pls DM me and I’ll help make it happen!” So you should still be able to attend even if you are not a Canadian citizen.

I am so excited to say that I will also be at the premiere event this year, along with my fellow Degrassi bloggers Ashley, Kary, and Alex & Taylor. What’s going on with Jenna this season? We haven’t heard too much. But in a new interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Degrassi star Jessica Tyler gave us a few hints.

In the interview, Jessica also discusses the very popular (and intense) adoption storyline from season 11 as well as her music on and off the show. As for Jenna’s storyline in season 12, it looks like Jenna will be trying to move forward from last season:

So what’s going on in Season 12 so far? What should we expect for Jenna and in general?
Right now, we’re about halfway through the season that we’re filming now, but when we come back, in terms of Jenna, she will have just broken up with K.C. and given the baby away, so she’s coming back to school hoping to have a fresh start, maybe make some new friends and try to move on from the past in a positive way.
Basically, this whole season is about picking sides between the characters here. There’s all of this drama going on, as always, so Jenna and Becky — a new character — they become friends, and as Jenna’s values in life and views start to change, it’s all about picking sides and what’s right, what’s wrong this season. It’s kind of like that for every character.

The countdown to season 12 is on! With only one more week before the highly anticipated season premiere, I think we can expect a lot of cast interviews coming out the next few days.

One of those interviews is with fan favourite Alex Steele, who recently did an interview with the Toronto Sun. In the interview, Alex talks about her Degrassi past as Angela Jeremiah and how she got back into acting again.

On returning to the show after her last episode in 2006, Alex said: “It’s a little strange to look back and think I was a totally different character, just, like, eating cake and having an older brother, and now I’m actually part of the cast at Degrassi, dealing with my own problems.”

Earlier today, Much Music posted new character descriptions for the 4 newbies (Becky, Luke, Dallas, and Campbell). Much also included a ton of new promo pictures, which you can check out on their blog. Who is your favourite so far?

BECKY BAKER (16), Grade 11
Becky is bright, bubbly and enthusiastic. Raised a conservative Christian, Becky always puts family first. She loves musical theatre, and singing in the church choir. She knows not everyone will agree with her traditional values, but that doesn’t mean she’s afraid to stand up for her beliefs.

LUKE BAKER (16), Grade 11
The Tim Tebow of Jr. Hockey, Luke Baker is everything a good Floridian should be: athletic, handsome, and above all, a devout Christian. But Luke’s teenage urges often get the better of him, despite his attempts to remain pure to his Christian faith. Being a hockey player, Luke has a constant abundance of female adoration, which usually makes him the guy who’ll kiss first and pray for forgiveness later.

MIKE “DALLAS” DALLAS (18), Grade 12
Hockey team captain, Dallas expects to enjoy everything elite players revel in — puck bunnies, keggers, alpha male status. Dallas is a fun-loving guy who’s never had to deal with real consequences for any of his actions. Dallas plays big brother to everyone on his team, teasing and mocking the boys in the locker room, but over-protective in public, lashing out at anyone who crosses him or his team.

CAMPBELL SAUNDERS (15), Grade 10
Like his Junior Hockey teammates, Campbell is handsome and athletic. Unlike his teammates, Cam is gentle, shy, and sweet. But whatever confidence he lacks in social settings, he more than makes up for on the ice with his dominating skill.

Chaz Bono was in Toronto today to film with Jordan Todosey for an upcoming cameo appearance in Degrassi’s 12th season!

Chaz’s scene will be with Adam, in which he plays a judge on a battle of the bands type of contest involving Adam’s group. According to The National Post, Adam approaches him to talk about his struggles growing up as a transgender teen.

Chaz has always championed Degrassi’s inclusion of a transgender character, and he reportedly jumped at the chance to guest star on Degrassi after meeting the producers at the Emmy Awards. On the show’s impact, Chaz said: “There are a lot of trans kids and teens and to have representation of themselves really means a lot…At that age there wasn’t anything [for me]. I didn’t know about transgender people or that there was a possibility to transition or anything. And it made it really difficult to figure out what was going on with me.”

Chaz’s episode will likely air sometime this fall.

Much Music aired a brand new trailer for season 12 during the Red Carpet Special of the Much Music Video Awards last night. After talking to the cast on the red carpet, Much premiered this epic promo featuring Florence and the Machine’s song “No Light, No Light.” This promo contains a lot of spoilers, so be warned. But it’s actually all kinds of awesome.

Much has not yet posted an HQ version of this promo, so all we have is this LQ version. But as soon as Much Music uploads a better version (hopefully soon??), I will update this post.

Later in the evening, Much Music aired this promo during the actual awards show. It is a shorter version of the trailer, but it still contains a few clips as well. Check it out over here.

Ology’s highly anticipated interview with Degrassi executive producer Stephen Stohn was released today. As expected, Stephen gave us lots of interesting information for Degrassi’s upcoming summer season, including spoilers involving, Eli & Clare, Fiona & Imogen, and the Drew/Katie/Bianca love triangle.

On the subject of Eli and Clare, Stephen explained the process of bringing Eli and Clare’s relationship back to the forefront:

Creatively, what went into bringing Eli and Clare back together?
We always try in Degrassi to be as authentic as possible. You know that. It’s always been a mantra, and life has a way of bringing people together and pulling people apart. At the same time, there’s always been inherent in their characters something that made that relationship special. That’s something that goes on in so many different relationships in real life. Maybe you yourself have had a relationship that was very intense, and for whatever reason broke off… but then maybe you see the person in a new light a few months later after both of you moved on. You may want to try it out, but at the same time, there’s a lot of fear in trying it out.

Degrassi’s season 12 premiere is still a little over a month away, but promotion for the summer season is already underway! Much Music’s press release came out today, and it contained some interesting spoilers for the first episode. In addition to the scheduling information we already knew (Degrassi will premiere July 16th at 10pm, with encore episodes on the weekend), the press release includes a brief summary of the premiere:

In the premiere episode, Drew (Luke Bilyk) is ready to break-up with Katie (Chloe Rose) for Bianca (Alicia Josipovic) but dreads the drama and looks to some liquid courage to get the job done. Clare (Aislinn Paul) wants to be with Eli (Munro Chambers) but worries that he doesn’t feel the same way. Plus, complicating life for the crew is the arrival of a dozen hotties, as Degrassi welcomes players from a junior hockey team to the school.

E! Online has posted yet another new TeenNick promo from Degrassi’s 12th season. This one teases the first few episodes, and includes some interesting spoilers to say the least.

According to the article, the first two episodes are about Drew ending things with Katie and possibly reuniting with Bianca. “While Drew and Bianca eventually end up together, they’re going to have to face the wrath of a super-bitter Katie.” On the subject of Eclare, E! says that Clare “wants to be with Eli, but worries that he doesn’t feel the same way.” We’ll have to watch to find out!

After a long day and a couple of mix-ups, the season 12 trailer has finally been released!

Posted by EW.com earlier this afternoon, the trailer is just as exciting as previous seasons! It uses the idea of high school yearbook photos to tease what we can expect from our favourite characters. This year, the trailer includes the song Bite Your Tongue by Chantal Claret, which you can download on iTunes right here!

In addition to the trailer, we also found out that season 12 will premiere on Monday July 16th at 10:00 p.m. This is an hour later from when Degrassi usually airs (9pm), and is being met with mixed reaction amongst the fans. Obviously, most of the fan-base will not be in school over the summer. But 10pm is later than what we’re used to for Degrassi. What do you think?

It’s that time of the year once again! This Monday, TeenNick will premiere its new trailer for season 12.

The trailer is expected to be similar to the promos that were created for season 10 and 11. It will likely hint at a couple of storylines that we can expect to see this summer.

Olivia tweeted the above picture earlier today, saying that Maya has “her eye on someone this season.” It looks like they are using the hashtag #DegrassiShowdown, which goes along with this rivalry storyline we saw in the first promo. Keep an eye on Degrassi Online, as we will post the promo as soon as we can once it is released on Monday!
