Aislinn Paul on Clare, Meeting Fans, and How to Say Her Name

A new interview with Aislinn Paul is out, and it comes from The Star Scoop. Aislinn talked about a variety of things including how Clare has grown up & developed, fans coming up to her on the street, and even how to pronounce her name! It’s a really great to read her thoughts on Clare and what it’s like to be a main character on Degrassi. Here’s an excerpt:

THE STAR SCOOP:
Have you learned anything personally from playing Clare?

AISLINN PAUL:
As a person, I really admire Clare’s ability to accept herself. She’s always been the type to just do what she feels is right. That’s a really important lesson for teenagers to learn.
I know that that’s something that’s always been hard for me, as opposed to going with my friends. I have to make my own decisions, and I think that’s been a really great lesson that she’s taught me.
I hope that I’ve rubbed off a little bit on her character. And I think I have. My sarcasm has come out in the writing a little bit.

We admire that too, Aislinn. Read the full interview right here!

Degrassi Does India – Aislinn’s Thoughts

Did you guys watch We Day online today? If Twitter is any indication, it sounds like the cast had an amazing time! In the meantime, Much Music posted a new blog with Aislinn Paul talking about the India trip today. She describes the trip as a life changing experience:

I felt so alive in India. Every moment there was something new to take in, a new sight, a new sound; every sense was overwhelmed. When it was finally time to leave I realized how much the country had given me. It exposed me to a new culture, reminded me of how fortunate I am, and it strengthened relationships between all of the cast. Most importantly, it gave me new friendships with all of those kids. And no matter how short lived those friendships may have been in person, they will never leave my heart. I can only hope that I’ve changed their lives a fraction of the amount they’ve changed mine.

Aislinn Paul Interview

Once again, Degrassi was in Soap Opera Weekly this week. This time the article featured an interview with Aislinn Paul. Talking about Eli & Clare in the finale, she said: “Just like the season is coming to a critical point, their relationship is coming to a critical point, and it gets really exciting … We try to resolve as much as we can, in order to keep the viewers happy, but obviously we leave some questions unanswered – just to leave a little suspense for the rest of the season.” Click on the image for a full size scan. Aislinn Paul in OTM WebZine

Aislinn Paul recently appeared in OTM WebZine. The three page spread, which can be downloaded in the current issue here, includes brand new photos as well as an interview. Aislinn discusses her role on Degrassi as well as how she keeps a balance between acting and normal school life. She also talks about some of her really bad audition experiences, like in this excerpt:

Aislinn recalls one in particular: five kids were lined up for a non-speaking role, Aislinn being one of them. The casting director was asking them all a series of questions like, “What’s your favourite game? What do you like to do? What T.V. shows do you watch?” When he fired the questions at Aislinn, she honestly responded, “You ask way too many questions!”
The casting director took her outside, handed her over to her dad, and she obviously didn’t get the part.
“My parents have always told me that acting isn’t my life yet – it’s something I can do for fun,” says Aislinn, “so I learned not to take rejections like that to heart.”

To read the full interview and download all the pictures, all you have to do is download the Summer 2010 issue of the zine. Big thanks to the Aislinn thread at Fan Forum for this info!
