Much Music Fall Season Press Release!

Much Music released their press release today for the fall season. While the press release did contain some info we already knew about (e.g. Chaz Bono will be making an appearance), it also include some new spoilers as well.

We now know that Canadian rock band Hedley will be making a guest appearance AND Degrassi will be moving back to it’s 9 p.m. ET timeslot (instead of 10 p.m. in the summer).

Chaz Bono and Canada’s rock royalty Hedley are among the exciting guest appearances on DEGRASSI, when the iconic series returns Friday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively on Much. The second half of Season 12 is jam-packed with dramatic storylines and challenging topics, tackling issues such as bullying, depression, and gender identity struggles. Full episodes of DEGRASSI are available on muchmusic.com, following the broadcast premiere.

When fans last saw the students of DEGRASSI, Eli’s school play, Romeo and Jules, had a successful opening night, and Clare made a decision to get even with Asher by going to the police. When DEGRASSI kicks off the second half of this season with “Building a Mystery” (Part 1), Becky begins to fall for Adam and worries about how her conservative parents will react. Meanwhile, Bianca urges Drew to reconnect with his mom. At a loss for film ideas, Eli is desperate for creative inspiration.

The mid-season finale of Season 12 in August was the #1 specialty program in its timeslot in its key demographic of viewers 12-17, as well as the #1 non-sports specialty program, with viewers 12-34.

Chaz Bono to Make Cameo Appearance on Degrassi

Chaz Bono was in Toronto today to film with Jordan Todosey for an upcoming cameo appearance in Degrassi’s 12th season!

Chaz’s scene will be with Adam, in which he plays a judge on a battle of the bands type of contest involving Adam’s group. According to The National Post, Adam approaches him to talk about his struggles growing up as a transgender teen.

Chaz has always championed Degrassi’s inclusion of a transgender character, and he reportedly jumped at the chance to guest star on Degrassi after meeting the producers at the Emmy Awards. On the show’s impact, Chaz said: “There are a lot of trans kids and teens and to have representation of themselves really means a lot…At that age there wasn’t anything [for me]. I didn’t know about transgender people or that there was a possibility to transition or anything. And it made it really difficult to figure out what was going on with me.”

Chaz’s episode will likely air sometime this fall.

Keke Palmer on Degrassi?

Actress & singer Keke Palmer tweeted the above message earlier today. She also included two pictures of her trying on the clothes here and here. So what kind of role does she have on the show? We know that Degrassi is finishing up season 10 right now. Maybe a cameo in the finale? This tweet is all we’ve heard so far.

Jean Marc Genereux to Appear on Degrassi This Week

From CTV.ca:

So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Jean Marc Genereux isn’t just a judge, he’s also Degrassi’s newest dance teacher.
“Those poor kids had to learn everything in a matter of minutes,” he laughs on set. “It was Ballroom 101!”
The two main actresses in the scene, Jordan Todosey (Adam) and Alicia Josipovic (Bianca), came to him backstage, equally excited and terrified of dancing for the cameras. “They wanted to know what we were going to do before we got on set,” Jean Marc says.
Turns out, they’d be performing a sultry tango, one of the most sensual ballroom genres.
“They did very, very well!” Jean Marc enthuses.
