Congratulations to the cast and crew of Degrassi, as the show was just nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for the second year in a row! Degrassi is nominated in the “Outstanding Drama Series” category along with Pretty Little Liars, Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, and Torchwood. Degrassi is receiving recognition for the various LBGT storylines on the show this past year, including fan favourites Adam and Fiona. As always, we couldn’t be more proud!
The GLAAD Media Awards are an annual event presented by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. They aim to celebrate and award the best images of the LGBT community in the media. This year, the Awards will be held in New York (March 24), Los Angeles (April 21), and San Francisco (June 2).
Degrassi has previously been nominated for 3 other GLAAD Awards. The first was in 2004 for Marco’s storyline. Paige and Alex’s relationship garnered Degrassi another GLAAD nomination in 2008. And last year, Degrassi was nominated for the show’s groundbreaking transgender character Adam.
