BroadwayWorld.com recently conducted a very lengthy interview with Degrassi actor Jake Epstein. Jake is currently on tour with Spring Awakening playing the part of Melchior. In the interview, Jake talks about the difference between TV and theatre, his time on Degrassi, future projects he has in mind, plus much more. Here’s an excerpt:
“Did you get to perform your own songs on Degrassi?
Yeah, they let me write a bunch of [my characters’] songs… I had a “band” on Degrassi. They would come to me and say, like, “Okay, we want kind of like a generic, garage-rock-sounding song!” So, I would come back with “Okay, like this?” and they’ll go, “yeah, that’s it! Let’s do that!”

I am so glad that Jake got that role in Spring Awakening because he gets to sing and act. I am hoping that he does an album after this, because I believe that he would sell millions, not just in Canada, but also in the U.S. I can’t wait. He’s really great and I hope he gets the success he deserves.
