CBC Meet & Greet With Stacey Farber

Today, Ashley & I decided to go to Toronto to meet Degrassi alumnus Stacey Farber! Stacey, along with her 18 To Life co-star Michael Seater, participated in a CBC meet & greet at the Fairview Mall.

It was a great day! Many 18 To Life fans turned up (and a few Degrassi fans as well). I asked Stacey to sign one of my Degrassi soundtracks. She and Michael spent a few minutes looking at all the old Degrassi pictures, pointing at Drake and remembering Stacey’s Degrassi days. They were both lovely to talk to, and Stacey looks as amazing as ever.

I took a few pictures from the event (mostly of Stacey). You can view them all in our photo gallery!

Watch: Stacey Farber in 18 To Life

I’ve been really bad at keeping up with all of the Degrassi alumni these days. Considering there’s so many of them and they are all so busy, it’s difficult to post every time one of them has a new movie/show/play/album/interview. So I apologize for the lateness of this post. But I hope all of you Canadian Degrassi fans have been watching season 2 of Stacey Farber’s show 18 to Life on CBC.

18 To Life is a Canadian series about a couple (Stacey & Michael Seater) who get married at a young age. As expected, hilarity ensues. The series is currently in its 2nd season. You can watch it Mondays at 8:30 ET on CBC. Unfortunately, the show isn’t currently airing in the US. The CW picked it up last summer, but dropped it not long after. The show drew odd criticism in the US, as a teenage married couple was seen as a controversial idea.

Still, 18 To Life is going strong! Check out their website for all sorts of great information on the show, and make sure that you follow them on Twitter (@18tolife). Also, Stacey recently did an interview with Canadian fashion blog She Does the City in which she talks about her favourite places in Toronto.

Stacey Farber Shines in 18 To Life

From Entertainment Weekly:

I’ve always been a fan of Ellie Nash (Farber), Degrassi’s sarcastic, aspiring journalist (go, nerds), even through her self-mutilation, goth period, and far too many years spent pining for Craig Manning. With many of her Degrassi castmates crossing the border and making it big in the U.S., I’ve been waiting for the day when Farber gets the break she deserves. She’s great in high school settings, but perhaps it’s time she graduate to something with more of an edge? You know, get a few indies under her belt, play the romantic interest to Jesse Eisenberg, revisit Ellie’s dark days in a supporting role to an ensemble drama, etc. Then again, big ratings on a major American network could make all of that possible…

Stacey Farber: “Degrassi was the Ultimate Boot Camp”

Continuing to promote 18 To Life, Stacey has done another interview with TheTVAddict.com. When asked about the success many Degrassi stars are finding these days (Nina Dobrev, Shenae Grimes, etc.) she said: “Degrassi didn’t feed us anything in particular or give us water to drink that turned people into celebrities! … I go to auditions now and nothing compares to the stuff I had to do on that show. Really heavy, emotional and challenging material which they would just throw at us and we would figure it out as we went along. Degrassi was the ultimate boot camp.”

Stacey Farber Goes from Drama to Comedy

A great new interview with Stacey Farber has surfaced. Lately she’s been busy promoting her new TV series 18 to Life. In this interview she discusses the series along with what it takes to go from playing a dramatic character like Ellie to a light hearted character like Jessie.

On the change she said: “I loved being on Degrassi and I played a character on that show that was so layered. I had so many different story lines. But for the most part, I did play a depressed girl. It could be heavy, ‘angsty’ stuff … I hadn’t done comedy before and it’s really tough”

18 To Life premieres on CBC TOMORROW! However, tonight CBC will be airing special previews during their broadcast of the Hannah Montana Movie. Stacey and Michael have filmed introductions and will be showing a sneak preview of the first episode.
