Stacey Farber: “Degrassi was the Ultimate Boot Camp”

Continuing to promote 18 To Life, Stacey has done another interview with TheTVAddict.com. When asked about the success many Degrassi stars are finding these days (Nina Dobrev, Shenae Grimes, etc.) she said: “Degrassi didn’t feed us anything in particular or give us water to drink that turned people into celebrities! … I go to auditions now and nothing compares to the stuff I had to do on that show. Really heavy, emotional and challenging material which they would just throw at us and we would figure it out as we went along. Degrassi was the ultimate boot camp.”

Stacey Farber Goes from Drama to Comedy

A great new interview with Stacey Farber has surfaced. Lately she’s been busy promoting her new TV series 18 to Life. In this interview she discusses the series along with what it takes to go from playing a dramatic character like Ellie to a light hearted character like Jessie.

On the change she said: “I loved being on Degrassi and I played a character on that show that was so layered. I had so many different story lines. But for the most part, I did play a depressed girl. It could be heavy, ‘angsty’ stuff … I hadn’t done comedy before and it’s really tough”

18 To Life premieres on CBC TOMORROW! However, tonight CBC will be airing special previews during their broadcast of the Hannah Montana Movie. Stacey and Michael have filmed introductions and will be showing a sneak preview of the first episode.

New Adamo Ruggiero Interview

Adamo Ruggiero recently did an interview with Out Magazine which you can now check out online! In the interview, Adamo talks about his latest movie (Making the Yuletide Gay), what it was like coming out to his friends, parents, and brother, as well as Adam Lambert’s AMA performance. Here’s an excerpt:

You said you’d like to play more gay characters in the future. What kind of gay characters would you like to explore?
I want to play a character who struggles with issues outside of being gay. My straight friends go through the same kinds of things that gay people my age do. We’re worried about finding a job or how to deal with our families. I think if we show a character who doesn’t talk about his sexuality so bluntly, it will be more powerful.

Drake on His Degrassi Audition

In a new interview, Drake AKA our very own Aubrey Graham discussed how he got his role on Degrassi. It was not the most conventional method! lol. Drake talks about his upbringing and life as both Jewish and black. In grade 9, he met with an agent who set him up for a Degrassi audition. He says:

I’ve never told this story before but I had actually smoked Marijuana for the first time before I went to the audition, [laughs] so, it was going to be fun. I was in the bathroom splashing water on my face and all this stuff. But that actually led to me actually leading a very clean cut life!

LOL! I guess he must be a really good actor. Click here to read the full interview.

New Jake Epstein Interview

BroadwayWorld.com recently conducted a very lengthy interview with Degrassi actor Jake Epstein. Jake is currently on tour with Spring Awakening playing the part of Melchior. In the interview, Jake talks about the difference between TV and theatre, his time on Degrassi, future projects he has in mind, plus much more. Here’s an excerpt:

Did you get to perform your own songs on Degrassi?
Yeah, they let me write a bunch of [my characters’] songs… I had a “band” on Degrassi. They would come to me and say, like, “Okay, we want kind of like a generic, garage-rock-sounding song!” So, I would come back with “Okay, like this?” and they’ll go, “yeah, that’s it! Let’s do that!”

Catching Up With Jake Epstein

Jake Epstein is currently on tour with Spring Awakening, but he recently did an interview in which he talked about his Degrassi past and where he sees himself in the future. When asked which Degrassi cast members he still hangs out with, he had this to say in response:

Well, I see them all the time when I’m in Toronto. Honestly, I’d say the people I’m really good friends with (are) Paula Brancati, who actually did “Dog Sees God” with me, and Jake Goldsbie, who has remained one of my best friends. And then again, I see them all the time. I definitely keep in touch with them all, because they’re good people. Last year we shot the “Degrassi” movie so I got to hang out with all of them again, which was cool.
