Degrassi Cast Participate in GalaxyCon Virtual Live Q&A

Several Degrassi: The Next Generation cast members participated in a virtual live Q&A with GalaxyCon today. The Q&A was about 45 minutes long and featured Stefan Brogren, Melissa McIntyre, Lauren Collins and Shane Kippel. During the discussion, they talked about a variety of topics including their favourite memories from set, where they think their characters ended up, and how proud they are of the show. One notable topic that they did not discuss was the recently announced HBO Max Degrassi reboot.

If you missed the Q&A, it is currently still available to watch on Vimeo.

My favourite moments from the Degrassi: TNG 20th Anniversary Panel

Yesterday I shared a recap of the main topics discussed at the ATX Television Festival’s Degrassi panel. But I also wanted to talk about my personal favourite moments from the event. I’ve selected 6 moments, for which you can read the direct quotes below. These are my favourite moments because they really get to the heart of Degrassi and I think they show how beautiful Degrassi is as a piece of Canadian culture.

1. Lauren and Stefan continuing the never-ending debate on the believability of Degrassi Goes Hollywood and Degrassi Takes Manhattan
Lauren: If it happened in “Degrassi Takes Manhattan” or “Degrassi Goes Hollywood,” it’s not canon. That’s what I said, right?
Stefan: Says you, says you. Those stories are full on Degrassi. They are moments in lives, they go crazy. I’m not saying that because I directed them. I’m just saying that people have moments like that, right. And they go crazy and come back, etc.

Recapping the ATX Television Festival’s Degrassi: TNG 20th Anniversary Panel

It finally happened! Tonight the Degrassi cast and producers reunited for a panel at the ATX Television Festival. Linda Schuyler, Stephen Stohn, Stefan Brogren, Aaron Martin, Jake Epstein, Aislinn Paul, Shane Kippel, Luke Bilyk, Lauren Collins, Munro Chambers, Daniel Clark, Andrea Lewis and Christina Schmidt were all in attendance at the pre-recorded panel. They spoke about a wide range of topics from their time on Degrassi, storylines that they loved, fan interactions over the years, and much more.

Overall I really enjoyed watching this panel. Seeing this group of people interact with each other again was so special. However, it was unfortunate that there wasn’t a lot of new information. As a super fan, I felt like I already knew most of what they talked about (I’m still waiting for the details on what happened when Next Class was cancelled!). However, there were definitely a few times when I was feeling the emotions, such as when Lauren said she wanted Degrassi to come back one day so her son would have something like it to watch.

Since this panel was behind a pay wall and also it was a one-time only event, I’ve tried to summarize the main points that they discussed below.

Behind the Scenes with Lauren Collins in Servitude

Check out this etalk segment from last night! They go behind the scenes of Lauren Collins’ new film Servitude. The film is about a bunch of waiters out for revenge. Lauren is interviewed briefly in this segment, where she says that she’s never had a job like this because she was on Degrassi since she was a “fetus.” haha! Also, Much Music sent me this new Degrassi promo. It doesn’t feature any new clips – it is simply a promo for the reruns airing during the hiatus. It’s cute nonetheless! Check it outt!

Lauren on the Future of Paige

In a new interview with CTV about Degrassi Goes Hollywood, Lauren Collins talked about her future on Degrassi. She says that she will not appear in the 9th season and she doesn’t see herself going back to Degrassi:
I don’t see myself going back to Degrassi although if they ask me, you never know but I think (Paige’s) time there is really done and I think she’s stuck in L.A. so we’ll see where that goes … It’s weird. This was the first year that summer rolled around and I wasn’t going back to the studio.

Good luck to Lauren in the future! We know that her time on Degrassi will only be the start of her career.

More From Adamo and Lauren in New York

Adamo and Lauren did a lot of interviews while promoting Degrassi Goes Hollywood in New York. Here is another one with PopEater. It includes a video, and Lauren and Adamo discuss their fame level in the US vs. Canada, Drake’s recent success, plus more! Here’s an excerpt:

Lauren: “The die-hard fans of the show, no matter where they are, are the same, and they’re all really supportive. But I think in general, there’s a much more media-obsessed culture here in the States. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing… so we always get a huge, huge response… We never experience that in Canada. Never, ever ever ever”

Lauren Collins talks style and shopping

The Toronto Star talked to Lauren Collins recently about her shopping habits as well as the upcoming Degrassi Goes Hollywood movie. Lauren discussed some of her favourite Toronto shops such as Robber at 863 Queen St. W. and Vintage 69 at 1100 Queen St. W. She named the Olson twins as her style icons and said that she loves going through her grandmother’s closet.

On the Degrassi Goes Hollywood movie, Lauren said:

“The movie ends with Paige in a pretty dark place – I hope she can get out of that funk. Relationships that have bloomed for nine years are threatened. I can’t believe I’ve been on the show for nine years.”
