Chloe Rose at the Toronto International Film Festival

Congratulations to current Degrassi cast member Chloe Rose!

Today Chloe’s new film The Lesser Blessed premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film, which is based on the critically acclaimed novel, follows a teenager living in a remote area of the Northwest Territories grappling with the challenges of growing up. Chloe plays the popular girl – Juliet Hope – who the main character has a crush on.

Chloe attended the premiere, and looked stunning in this regal black halter dress. She also attended the Guess Portrait Studio, and took some gorgeous pictures while there. Check out a complete album of Chloe at TIFF in our gallery!

Some of you may have also noticed that former Degrassi star Nina Dobrev has been making the rounds at TIFF this week for the premiere of her new film The Perks of Being a Wallflower. ‘Perks’ will be in theatres later this month!

Cassie Steele & Annie Clark Attend the Juno Awards

Degrassi stars Cassie Steele and Annie Clark were both at the Juno Awards last night in Ottawa. They were there to present the Dance Recording of the Year award along with Francois Arnaud from The Borgias. Annie looked adorable in this neon pink strapless dress, while Cassie chose a revealing leather number that I’m sure turned a lot of heads. Check out more pictures from the event in our gallery!

Luke Bilyk Attends the Kids Choice Awards

The annual Kids Choice Awards were held last night in Los Angeles, and our own Luke Bilyk was there to represent the Degrassi franchise. Luke was able to chat with some fans and walk the red carpet at the big event. He looked amazing in a light summer blazer and some very cool sunglasses. Check out some pictures of Luke on the red carpet in our gallery!

ClevverTV Interviews Alicia Josipovic

Alicia Josipovic plays Bianca, Degrassi’s resident bad girl. She recently did an interview with social media mavericks ClevverTV. They had a chance to chat with Alicia about what really goes on behind the scenes, her dream guest stars, and where she sees Bianca in the future.

Of particular adorableness, Alicia discussed the friendships amongst the cast and a certain Italian mafia family…

The cast seems like such good friends. When you aren’t filming, what are you all doing between takes? Any pranks?
We really are the best of friends. There have been so many fun and memorable times together. Sometimes it can get pretty chaotic when the entire cast is on set. It’s like a circus/comedy show. Last season four other cast members (Luke, Munro, Daniel Kelly, Justin) and myself created an Italian mafia family. So when the cameras weren’t rolling, we would snap out of our Degrassi characters and go into our mobster characters. We didn’t mess around! I wished we had filmed it, it would have been a great series!

Mike Lobel’s Really Me Renewed

Mike Lobel
Former cast member Mike Lobel’s new show Really Me was picked up for a second season.  On the show he plays lead character DJ and costars with Wesley Morgan, who had a reoccurring speaking role in Degrassi Episodes Beat It Parts 1 and 2. Mike has been joined by several guest starring Degrassians, both alumnus and current cast members, such as Jamie Johnston, Cristine Prosperi, and Luke Bilyk. Really Me aired from April to June earlier this year on Canada’s Family Channel. Catch season two on on Sundays this fall.

Season 2 finds Maddy immersed in more mishaps, drama and embarrassing moments alongside her best friend Julia as they continue to negotiate the awesome benefits as well as the trials and tribulations of being stars on their own reality TV series. Viewers can catch season one of Really Me on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT on Family Channel this fall.

New Degrassi Cast Photoshoot

New cast promo pictures from that recent photoshoot have started to trickle out. TeenNick has been posting a few of them on Facebook and TeenNick.com. So far we have good quality shots of Munro, Charlotte, Annie, Jordan, and Sam. I’m sure we will see more soon, so I’ll just keep adding to the album as they come out. Click for prettiness.
Update: Pictures of Luke, Ray, Argiris, Aislinn, and Melinda have been added as well!

Support Free The Children & We Day 2010!

It’s that time of year again! We Day 2010 is almost upon us, and this year it’s going to be better then ever! Fresh off their trip to India where they built a school, the cast of Degrassi are still involved in all sorts of Free the Children initiatives.

Firstly, Epitome tells us that for every person who “likes” the We Day Facebook Page, sponsors will donate $1 to Free The Children development projects! That’s up to $1,000,000! And all it takes is the click of a button. So get on it Degrassi fans – here is one way you can help out! Click here to like We Day RIGHT NOW.

Secondly, We Day will be taking place in Toronto on Sept. 30th beginning at 9:30am ET and Vancouver on Oct. 15th at 9:00 PST. Students from all across Canada will be in attendance. If you’re like me and not one of those lucky students, you can still watch the entire thing live streamed online!! All of the info can be found at weday.ctv.ca! As to whether or not the Degrassi cast will be in attendance, we’re not 100% sure yet. They have been there every year since We Day started (here they are in 2008) so I’m keeping my fingers crossed! But Epitome tells me that they are still shooting episodes so schedules need to be worked out.

I’ll have more about We Day as we get closer to the date! In the meantime, here are a few videos the Degrassi cast did with Free the Children:

Update: The cast will be at We Day this year but they aren’t speaking on stage.

Jordan Posts a New Video

Jordan has posted a new video of the cast on the set of Degrassi. I love it when she does this! Luke, Sam, Alicia, and Jessica are also included in the video.
