Toronto, ON – MuchMusic fans love DEGRASSI! Last night’s Season 10 premiere of the series, now exclusively on MuchMusic, delivered the #1 program of the day on the channel with 218, 000 viewers. The episode also marked the beginning of the series’ new telenovela format, airing the first of four new weekly episodes. New episodes of DEGRASSI air Monday – Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on MuchMusic all summer long.

DEGRASSI won its 9 – 9:30 p.m. ET timeslot for Teens amongst all Canadian and US Speciality Networks and it was the #2 choice for P12-34 and A18-34. The Season 10 premiere of DEGRASSI is also the fifth biggest single program on MuchMusic this broadcast year to date.

Hey Degrassi Fans!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be going to the Much Music screening party this Friday in Toronto!! Myself plus Ashley and Kiley from two of our very own Degrassi Fan Blogs will be there together! I will of course be taking lots of pictures, chatting to the cast, and bringing you a full report of the entire event!

I’ll also be on Twitter the whole day, keeping you guys updated on everything that’s going on. So make sure that you Follow Me! I’ll try to tweet as much as possible.

Unfortunately the weather forecast is saying that it’s supposed to rain on Friday which is a bit of a problem for an outdoor premiere. If you are also going, make sure that you check MuchMusic.com on Friday for weather updates and any other important information.

EDIT: Looks like there is no longer rain in the forecast!

As you all know, Degrassi Takes Manhattan will premiere on July 16th on Much Music. To celebrate, Much is having a special screening at Much Music headquarters in Toronto!

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the movie at this Parking Lot premiere! They will be showing the movie at the exact same time it premieres on television (July 16th at 9pm). But the parking lot opens at 7:30pm. Bring your own blankets, chairs, and snacks and enjoy the movie with your fellow Degrassi fans. It should be a blast!

And if that wasn’t enough, the cast of Degrassi will also be there to hang out and watch the movie with you!!! How exciting is that?!?!?

Thanks to Stephen Stohn on Twitter, we now know the Canadian premiere date for Degrassi Takes Manhattan! Stephen tweeted that it will premiere on Friday, July 16th on Much Music. A few days later, on Monday, July 19th, season 10 will premiere (also on Much Music)! Stephen also confirmed that the last few episodes of season 9 will continue starting THIS Monday on Much.

No word yet on the exact Degrassi Takes Manhattan & season 10 premiere date for TeenNick. But we are expecting it to be air around the same time. For now check out TeenNick’s Preview from the movie.

Last Half of Season 9 on Much Music

Schedules are up, and it looks like the last half of season 9 will continue on Much Music starting next week. Much is set to begin airing Degrassi again on Monday May 10th at 9pm ET. Of course, the question still was whether or not CTV would premiere the episode on Sunday May 9th, the way that they have in the past. A quick look at CTV’s schedule shows that Degrassi is not scheduled to air that week. Instead, CTV is airing Human Target in Degrassi’s old Sunday at 7 timeslot.

So it definitely looks like Degrassi will be airing exclusively on Much Music from now on. This is not only for season 10, but for the last unaired episodes of season 9 as well.

According to Cable TV Talk, new episodes of Degrassi will be resuming in Canada next month. Episode 915 (“Why Can’t This Be Love”) is scheduled to air Monday, May 10th at 9pm on Much Music. As of right now, CTV’s schedule only goes until May 8th, so it’s unclear as to whether CTV will also be airing new episodes. But I’ll keep you posted! It will be nice to have Degrassi back for the Canadians.

Aaaand it’s official. There has been lots of speculation that this might happen for a while. Now we know for sure. Much Music announced today that Degrassi will be moving exclusively to Much Music this summer. Much will most likely air season 10 at the exact same time as TeenNick several days per week with this new “telenovela” format. Much will also be airing the Degrassi Takes Manhattan TV movie and they promise “tons of original online content.” Read all the info at Much Music’s official blog.
